Thank you for collecting these orders. I will try to find the shipping cost to Schwanebeck. I presume it will be easy for me to find the shipping cost to Hamburg and maybe it will be easy for you (or maybe cheaper) to find the cost to ship to Schwanebeck. You may need information for the bamboo bundles to get a shipping rate - one bundle weights approximately 30 kgs and is 366 cm x 20 cm in diameter. I will let you know if I find a rate as soon as I can.

I have sent this message to one person in each country where I will ship bamboo; France , Germany , Italy , Croatia , Denmark , Finland , Lithuania , Norway , Serbia , Switzerland and Sweden . Some of you are the only ones in your country to receive bamboo. Others are a part of a group; if you are a part of a group, please ask your other members about my question.
I plan to ship our container of bamboo to England in about three weeks. I will work with a customs broker in England to clear this shipment through UK customs and help me determine what to pay for duty and taxes. I will need to go through a similar process for each of your shipments. I will work with a firm called George Baker Shipping in England . This firm can work with each of you to clear the bamboo into your country or you can find your own customs broker to work with in your own country. Every shipment will need a customs broker to clear the bamboo through customs in each country. This process should not cost too much money so I don’t know what is best for each of you. Of course the taxes are different for your countries so that will be determined by each country of this order. The prices for the bamboo I will quote all of you will be for the bamboo shipped to your desired city. The duty and taxes will be your responsibility (I hope this was clear before now).
Please write to me and let me know if you would like this English firm to help clear your shipment or if you will work with your own customs broker. Thank you!

Some of you have written to ask me about an update. I can tell you that we will ship the bamboo from China in about two weeks so it should be in England in about 5-6 weeks.
I can NOT tell people the shipping costs yet from England . I am VERY sorry about this! I asked George Baker shipping about six weeks ago for this information and they still do not have information for me. Today I received another letter from Mr. Baker who said that they were having a hard time getting the shipping rates for me because most European cargo companies have never shipped bamboo poles before and because these bundles of bamboo are 3.6 metres long they are having a hard time getting quotes. But we are still trying! I wish I had another answer but this is all we have for now. I will get in touch as soon as I know more about the shipping costs and about when the bamboo will arrive in England . Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions for me. hallo zusammen,
schade, ich hatte eigentlich gedacht, das es etwas schneller geht.
so sind es dann doch noch 8 wochen bis unsere bestellung in england ankommt. da bricht ja schon fast der notstand bei mir aus, da meine zur zeit verfügbaren tonkinrohre nicht ganz die qualität haben wie ich sie mir für meine geplanten vorhaben wünsche.
na ja, da heisst es wohl gedult haben.

Our shipment is almost on the water. The Chinese will start loading the container in about ten days and the container should ship in about 14 days. I will be in touch with each of you regarding your individual shipments and the shipping rates and all else. The only rate I have so far is to Schwanebeck and that is £ 455. The bamboo is going onto the water in about ten days but I will continue to try to get better rates as well as rates to Hamburg . This shipping rate means that the landed cost in Germany would be about $170 USD but I think I can find a better rate. I will keep trying Olaf!

I imagine it will take at least one week to clear through customs and another week to set up all the shipments but most of you should be seeing your poles in about six weeks. I will be in Italy at the Rod Makers gathering in Sansepolcro at the end of May. I had hoped that you would all have your bamboo before that time but I think I will be first and the bamboo second. We will have to wait and see.
I do have shipping rates for many of your orders but I am making one last attempt with a new company to find better rates. I have been very surprised at the costs of shipping throughout Europe and though I will do everything I can to keep the final cost of the bamboo low, it may be higher than I initially thought. Still, I think everyone will save money with this direct shipment.
I will be in touch with everyone in the next 1-2 weeks to confirm the final price estimate and shipping instructions. I know we will have some problems because this is new business for whatever transportation company we use but we will work to make it as easy as possible!
If some of you are interested to learn why it has taken so long to get accurate shipping rates to you please feel free to read the notes below. This is a series of four letters between transportation companies in Seattle , the UK and The Netherlands. I wrote to this company after trying to find information about shipping for almost two months without much luck. The notes below state that these bamboo poles are hard to work with and very expensive to ship. There is no need for you to read them but I hope people understand that I have been working to get the shipping rates since January and it has been very difficult to get information. Da es für Andy so ein großes Problem ist von den USA aus jemanden zu finden der das Bambus für einen guten Preis von England nach Deutschland bringt solltet Ihr vielleicht auch selber mal eure Fühler ausstrecken vielleicht findet Ihr ja noch eine günstige Lösung. Vielleicht ist es günstiger mit dem LKW über Frankreich oder Holland nach Deutschland man müsst nur eine Spedition finden die diese Tout fährt und einen guten Preis machen kann. Denkt dran es ist euer Geld!

nachdem jetzt wohl feststeht, daß der Andy -verständlicherweise- sich nicht um den Weitertransport ab Felixstowe kümmern kann, jetzt mal mein Vorschlag: Die Ladung ist kein ganzer Container, d.h. sie wird eh am Hafen geöffnet und einzeln weitertransportiert. Deshalb würde ich 2 Ziele für Deutschland vorschlagen, weil es wenig Sinn macht, dass die ganzen Süddeutschen Rutenbauer ihre Ware dann in Hamburg abholen müssen. Der Michael soll den Transport für den Norden übernehmen, ich für den Süden. Habe mit meiner Bekannten bei PanAlpina (=int. Spedition) gesprochen, bekomme am Freitag einen Preis für die gesamte Ladung bis Nürnberg. Dadurch, daß es 3.66m lang ist, ist das Gewicht weniger ausschlaggebend, weil eh Sperrgut. Der Michael soll ein Ziel im Norden festlegen und jeder teilt dann dem Michael mit, wo er seine culms abholen will. Frachtkosten bis Nürnberg bezahle ich und leg sie dann auf die Abholer um, Frachtkosten bis X der Michael.
@Olaf: Frag bitte den Andy ob wir Transportpapiere haben können und sag ihm, die Ware muß er bei Einfuhr verzollen.
@Michael:Wirsollten zwecks besserer Koordination Tel.nummern per PN austauschen.

das ist nicht ganz richtig Andy kümmert sich noch weiterhin sehr um den weitertransport, hat aber grosse Probleme überhaut jemanden zu finden der den Bambus nach Deutschland transportieren will und wenn er einen findet ist der Preis atenberaubend hoch. Das Hauptproblem ist wohl das die Wahre nicht auf Palettent ist sondern lose Bündel sind. Sagt mir wenn ihr Preise habt dann können wir mit dem vergleiche was Andy bis jetzt hat.
