Hallo liebe Gemeinde !
Habe wieder was von Andy gehört:

Friends, Our bamboo is due in Hamburg this week. I imagine it will take about 7-10 days to clear through customs and be made ready for shipping. I am STILL waiting for DSV to confirm that they will charge each of you directly for the taxes. Also, I don't know if DSV or my company will charge for the shipping. Payment for the bamboo can be made by credit card or a bank wire transfer. I will provide the details as soon as I know when you will all receive your bamboo. I am sorry that I have not been able to give a total cost for everything to you but I still do not have the tax information and we are still waiting for some of your shipping rate quotes. I have asked the shipper for this information and they are slow to tell me the answers. I can tell you that the tax should not be so much, some of you ordered bamboo last year and you should not have to pay any more this year. I will write again as soon as I have some answers from DSV. With luck, we will start sending out the bamboo by the end of this month! Thank you,-Andy
Email 2:
I am very sorry that I do not have the total yet. The company in Hamburg is very slow to give me some answers! But you know the cost for the bamboo yes? It is $180 USD for the 50mm, $220 for the 57+mm and $50/ea for the AA poles; the AA poles maybe came two in a bundle instead of three so we will have to make some small change but we will make it work). Let me know if you need more from me now. Otherwise, we should really hear something from DSV in Hamburg later this week! Danke,-Andy
Email 3:
Stefan, DSV is the name of the company who will import the bamboo into Hamburg and handle the shipments from their warehouse. I will start to accept payments as soon as we know the total cost and delivery date. Of course, as soon as the bamboo is ready in Hamburg you may go to retrieve it from DSV (I will send you their address). You will be the importer for your 18 bundles. But I am not yet sure about the tax because I have to wait for DSV to tell me... I have asked them many times for this information but I am still waiting! I am sorry about that. The bamboo will be to DSV this week so hopefully this week we will have our answers and in one or two weeks you can pay and retrieve your bamboo! I will be in touch as soon as I know more information. -Andy

Stefan,
Thank you for the idea. I have been kicking DSV in the shins for about three weeks now but yesterday I realized that I needed to kick them a little bit higher to get their attention!
For weeks now I have been explaining things to the DSV employee I've been working with. I described to him as best I could what is happening; in short, that we are a US firm, selling these goods in the EU and that DSV needed to be absolutely sure that we had all of our paperwork in order. I learned last year that this process was a little be tricky and different than our business dealings in the US. "Okay, okay, yeah, yeah," he told me, "everything is in order."
Then, after the container arrived a week ago I get notices that each customer will have to clear their own goods from customs and that we have to prepare special paperwork for each order and that the customers will have to work with a local office to clear and deliver their orders and now there is all sorts of new information. Inside I am screaming, "Why couldn't you tell me this a month ago!!!" We could have had all this prepared by the time the container arrived!
But the good news is that I think I will have everything submitted to the DSV Hamburg office by your Thursday morning and they should be able to start to move all the orders this week or by Mon/Tue at the latest. [And of course, even though I specifically asked if we have special orders for you who will pick up the order I have never received an answer but we will clarify by Friday.]
I do not see any reason why you should not have all your bamboo by next week. I hope that is soon enough!!
More soon!
Best,
-Andy

Anbei die letzte Email von Andy!
Gentlemen,
Our bamboo is in the hands of our importer in Hamburg and ready to start shipping to you all. I will include in this note payment information but first some notes about the entire order. [Sorry if this is too long for some non-English speakers!] Feel free to skip to the bottom if you only want to see the payment instructions.
Some of you will note that I started putting this order together last February and that it has taken a long time to finalize our orders. The main reason why it took so long to get the container of bamboo poles shipped from China was that I had to fill the container as much as possible with orders so that none of us had to pay too much for shipping the bamboo to Germany. When I ship this bamboo to the states I can do so whenever the bamboo is ready because, even if I only fill a half of a container with poles for rod-makers I have bamboo customers in other industries who will help fill the space in a shipping container. Once we had enough poles that I was comfortable in shipping the container, we had another three-week delay when I was waiting on a large order from a customer in the UK.
I thought that the poles would be ready to ship by the first week of June but we are obviously a month behind schedule and I am sorry about that, especially to those of you who have been in dire need of poles to keep your hands busy in your shops!
Next there is the issue of disseminating all of the information about your individual shipments. The price of the actual bamboo has (hopefully) always been clear as it is the same as is posted to the website. What has been a bit of a mystery has been the final shipping charges as well as any customs and tax costs. In 2008, I used a company called DSV in England to help me import our shipment of bamboo and then to ship orders out to all the rod-makers. DSV has offices in Germany in and most European countries so decided to use them again, this time I worked with the office in Hamburg.
I started corresponding with Dirk, my contact at DSV in Hamburg at the end of January, as soon as I thought we may put together another European order. I explained to Dirk exactly what we planned to do and asked him for help in getting this order done. The biggest reason why this order needs special care is that my company is not registered to do business in the EU and therefore we needed to find an appropriate way to import these orders to all of you.
Since that initial date I have written to Dirk over 20 times in order to get shipping rate quotes and to make sure that we understood how to distribute the bamboo when it landed in Hamburg. By 21 May, I had all of your orders submitted to Dirk and requested that DSV quote shipping rates quotes for each and every order. Through May and June I sent eight separate emails to Dirk (and several more to his colleagues when he went on holiday) trying to clarify our shipping charges and the customs clearance fees. STILL today I am without shipping rate quotes for NINE of the twenty-five orders on this container.
Also, only when the container landed in Hamburg last week did DSV seem to notice that our firm is not registered in the EU and there was a flurry of emails explaining that each of you would have to act as importers (which is different than the order last year so it is something new for me).
In short, though I take responsibility in not being as timely as I could in every instance in my correspondence with each of you, I feel that I must let you all know that there have been and continue to be serious delays from the importer we are working with. I am very sorry for the impact that this has had on some of you. I have never sought to keep information regarding the final landed cost of the bamboo from anyone, I have given all the information that I had about each of your orders and the fact is that we have not had great help from DSV in this matter and we are still waiting for a fair amount of information that should have been presented to us a month ago.
I have NOT been happy with the service I have received from DSV and it is embarrassing for me to be so late in getting important information to many of you. I can only hope in your continued trust in the quality of cane we have to offer and that we will work to make this better in the future. I do not feel that this order thus far is a fair reflection on how we normally run our bamboo business.
Now (though the timing is not great) I will be out of my office all of next week. I will have some email capability but it will be limited. I have done everything that I can to make sure that DSV has enough information to complete each of your orders which should be ready for delivery or pick-up any day now. I will monitor the situation as closely as possible next week while out of my office.
I had planned to send out your final invoiced before today but only this morning I received a notice from Dirk that some of the shipping rates he has given me are no longer valid.
BECAUSE I DO NOT YET KNOW ALL OF YOUR SHIPPING CHARGES AND BECAUSE THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH DSV, I HAVE ASKED DSV TO DELAY THE SHIPPING OF ANY ORDERS FOR ONE MORE WEEK. I do not want to ship any bundles of cane until we all know the final charges. Also, the different size bamboo poles in this order have been marked with different colour paint (Green for the 50-57mm, Yellow for the 57+mm poles) and I want to be sure that DSV understands these colours and what they mean! I know that some of you are desperate for bamboo and I am again sorry to make you wait one more week. This was a very difficult decision for me but I think there are too many risks if we start shipping the bamboo too soon.
As soon as we have the final amount for your orders we will email you the invoices. I will ask my assistant Julie to do this for me. If you feel that there are problems with your order or with our invoice to you please feel free to withhold payment until you are able to connect with me directly.
It is my sincere hope that soon you all will have your bamboo and that you are satisfied with the quality and price. The "logistics" of this order thus far have not been satisfactory to me and I am working to improve our cooperation with DSV in Hamburg. I will be at the European Rodmakers Gathering in Sarnen, Switzerland this September and I hope to meet (or to see again!) some of you there. And because all the troubles with this order I will be happy to buy the first beer!
[ALSO, a note about the AA poles; those poles have been made into two-pole bundles so those of you who ordered two bundles (six poles) will now receive three bundles.]
--------
PAYMENT INFORMATION
The easiest two ways to pay for your bamboo order is via a bank wire transfer or with a credit card. A bank wire transfer is my preference but I understand that some of you may prefer to pay with a card which is okay.
If you need to pay with a card you must simply get me your information which can be done via email (if you feel safe) or by calling myself or Julie with your information. Again, this might be a little tricky since I am out of the office from 3-13 July and 16-21 July and Julie is only in the office on Mondays and Wednesdays but you can try to reach her or my mobile phone (you can also leave your information on our voice mail, that is secure).
Office: 01 206 462 1273
My mobile: 01 206 251 6773
A bank wire transfer can be made from your local bank. You will have to fill out some papers and to pay a small fee. Here is our bank wire information. Note that our banks here do NOT have IBAN numbers.

Gentlemen, The bamboo is starting to ship out this week. We will send you each an invoice by email. Please let us know immediately if you see any problems. We have billed you all for the bamboo and shipping. You will each have to clear your order through your country's customs with DSV who will ship to each of you. So, you pay me for the bamboo and the shipping. You will pay DSV (or your own country's government) for your VAT. You will also have to pay a € 65 fee for customs clearance. We will pay the € 35 document issue fee for each order. We will also pay part of your € 65 customs clearance fee (since I don't think we planned for you to pay that). On each of your invoices we have issued a € 30 credit. So in the end you will pay for the bamboo, shipping, VAT and a € 35 clearance fee. Let me know if you have questions. -Andy

Stefan, Your order should be ready to pick up from DSV. Please contact Mr. Dirk Deutscher at DSV (Dirk.DEUTSCHER@de.dsv.com) to make this arrangement. Contact me if you need more details. viel Dank,-Andy

Hallo Stefan

Euer Stefan
P.S.: Ihr hört Montag von mir

Hallo an alle,
wie schön,der Bambus kommt!Endlich!!

Hallo Stefan, Hallo Robert,
@Stefan.
zwecks Abholung in Verbindung setzen.
Bernd
